چکیده

We present the discovery and characterization of six short-period, transiting giant planets from NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) -- TOI-1811 (TIC 376524552), TOI-2025 394050135), TOI-2145 88992642), TOI-2152 395393265), TOI-2154 428787891), & TOI-2497 97568467). All orbit bright host stars (8.9 <G< 11.8, 7.7 <K< 10.1). Using a combination time-series photometric spectroscopic follow-up observations TESS Follow-up Observing Program (TFOP) Working Group, we have determined that are Jovian-sized (R$_{P}$ = 1.00-1.45 R$_{J}$), masses ranging 0.92 to 5.35 M$_{J}$, F, G, K (4753 $<$ T$_{eff}$ 7360 K). detect significant orbital eccentricity for three longest-period systems in our sample: b (P 8.872 days, $e$ $0.220\pm0.053$), 10.261 $0.182^{+0.039}_{-0.049}$), 10.656 $0.196^{+0.059}_{-0.053}$). both subgiant (3.8 $\log$ g $<$4.0), but these show no sign inflation despite very high levels irradiation. The lack may be explained by mass planets; $5.35^{+0.32}_{-0.35}$ M$_{\rm J}$ (TOI-2145 b) $5.21\pm0.52$ (TOI-2497 b). These new discoveries contribute larger community effort use {\it TESS} create magnitude-complete, self-consistent sample with well-determined parameters future detailed studies.

The Stability of Short-Period Extrasolar Giant Planets

A three-dimensional coupled thermosphere-ionosphere model for extrasolar giant planets (EXOTIM) has been developed. This is the first such model reported in the literature. This thesis contains an extensive description of the model and the methods adopted in modelling the different physical processes expected in the upper atmospheres and ionospheres of extrasolar giant planets. Modelling the up...

Critical Protoplanetary Core Masses in Protoplanetary Disks and the Formation of Short–period Giant Planets

We study a solid protoplanetary core undergoing radial migration in a protoplanetary disk. We consider cores in the mass range ∼ 1 − 10 M⊕ embedded in a gaseous protoplanetary disk at different radial locations. We suppose the core luminosity is generated as a result of planetesimal accretion and calculate the structure of the gaseous envelope assuming hydrostatic and thermal equilibrium. This ...

The Internal Structural Adjustment due to Tidal Heating of Short - Period Inflated Giant Planets

Several short-period Jupiter-mass planets have been discovered around nearby solar-type stars. During the circularization of their orbits, the dissipation of tidal disturbance by their host stars heats the interior and inflates the sizes of these planets. Based on a series of internal structure calculations for giant planets, we examine the physical processes which determine their luminosity-ra...

Absence of a Metallicity Effect for Ultra-short-period Planets

Ultra-short-period (USP) planets are a newly recognized class of planets with periods shorter than one day, and radii smaller than about 2 R⊕. It has been proposed that USP planets are the solid cores of hot Jupiters that lost their gaseous envelopes due to photo-evaporation or Roche lobe overflow. We test this hypothesis by asking whether USP planets are associated with metal-rich stars, as ha...
